Jenny says: Sarah is one of those artists who can work in a whole range of different styles and mediums. I first started stocking Sarah’s work when I came across an image of a pig she had done in pastels, called ‘Ruby.’ As soon as I saw Ruby, I knew Sarah was the right choice for Itch Gallery. Her use of pastels was so skilled that many of our customers thought it was painted in acrylics, because it looked so different from what they expected from pastel work. Needless to say, Ruby sold very quickly and we soon started stocking a whole range of Sarah’s work. I’m pleased to say we are now the exclusive stockists of her animal work.
About Sarah Watson
Sarah Watson graduated from De Montfort University with a First Class degree in Combined Arts in 1994. Since then she has undertaken several large commissions including abstract and semi-figurative paintings for a private indoor swimming pool and a series for a commercial recording studio, as well as private portraits of people and animals.
Meanwhile Sarah spent 15 years working in music PR. In 2009 she left the music industry to pursue her painting and drawing career full time, setting up her ‘Wonky Dogs’ business, specializing in contemporary animal portraiture in a variety of media and styles. Under the ‘Wonky Dogs’ business name, Sarah creates expressive portraits for stylish animal lovers.
An extension of Wonky Dogs is her ‘Farmyard Chic’ range of prints, based on pen and watercolour paintings with a fantastical and fun take on an assortment of farmyard, wild and domestic animals. Sarah has also been commissioned by Jimmy’s Farm in Suffolk – famous for its reality TV show – to draw their own animals for an exclusive range of greetings cards.
Whilst Itch Gallery is the exclusive stockist of Sarah Watson’s animal work (excluding pet portraits) Sarah also invites private commissions acrylics, pastels, charcoal, pencil and watercolour, which can be commissioned through Itch Gallery.
