As you may be aware, on 9th August 2017, Itch Gallery closed its doors at 17a Mill Street, Oakham to focus solely on the online shop and the mentoring service.
Itch Gallery had been in Oakham for 7 years, 5 and a half of them with myself as owner. In that time we’d had 2 owners, 2 premises and over 400 different artists and I was obviously sad to close the doors on our premises in Oakham. However, the stress of trying to run a physical shop 6 days a week on top of running workshops, running the web shop and a busy artist’s mentoring service has taken its toll and has been affecting my health, so it was the right time for a change.
During my time as owner of Itch Gallery I have been supported by many wonderful customers and artists, many of whom have become friends and it was hard to say goodbye but I had to put my health first. I am happy to say though that our online shop, www.itchgallery.co.uk will still be here – offering the same great service and contemporary art, craft and design that you have come to know and love at Itch Gallery.
Our online shop will of course be getting much bigger as I transfer everything online and there will be lots more artist profiles and blog posts for you to get stuck into also. Obviously, there’s a lot of work for me to do, so please bear with me as I get everything online. If you are already on our mailing list, you will receive an email once all the new products are live in the shop. (If you aren’t already on our mailing list, you can sign up on the home page near the bottom).
For artists, the current mentoring scheme, Mentoring for Makers, will be bigger and better than ever. It has long since outgrown its current home on the Itch Gallery site, so it will now have its very own dedicated website over at www.mentoringformakers.com . Again, there will be lots more added to the Mentoring for Makers website over the coming weeks and there will also be a dedicated newsletter and mailing list just for artists, which you can find on the MFM website.
I am really excited for the future and look forward to sharing the journey with you (after a much needed rest!)
