Mentoring can be invaluable to the progression and development of your business. Itch Gallery owner, Jenny Creasey, has been mentoring and giving talks for universities, colleges and organisations since 2009 and now extends this to offer one-to-one mentoring sessions in person or via Skype.
What does mentoring cover?
All mentoring sessions will be tailored to suit your individual requirements and could cover anything from pricing, mark-ups and product development, to approaching galleries, wholesale catalogues, trade and retail shows and marketing, amongst other topics.
As both a maker and gallery owner, Jenny has experience on both sides of the business and so is perfectly placed to guide and advise you.
Who is mentoring for?
The mentoring sessions are designed specifically for individuals working with art and craft products and can benefit people at any stage of their career.
Jenny works with people of all ages and stages, from people in their second year at university, those looking to turn a hobby into a business, right up to more established artists and makers who are looking to explore new markets or projects.

A one hour mentoring session tailored to your individual needs is available either in person at the gallery or via Skype. A full day mentoring course at the Itch Gallery is also available. Jenny will have reference materials on hand so that she can show you examples of best practice. If undertaking the mentoring session via Skype, you will be provided with a video recording of our meeting. If meeting in person, you will receive written notes and an action plan as a record of what has been discussed.
As well as this, you will also gain exclusive access to a private Facebook group solely for individuals who have taken advantage of mentoring or e-courses with Jenny. As well as providing an online community of support and discussion of different topics, every Wednesday, Jenny will host an “Ask Me Anything” session on the Facebook group, giving you the chance to continue learning even after your mentoring session is over.
“I first visited Jenny at Itch gallery during my second year of university, where I completed an initial mentoring session and I cannot express how beneficial mentoring has been to me. The sessions have helped me to understand how to approach galleries and also understand the day to day running of an Art gallery itself.
Jenny has played an instrumental part in the success of my career to date. With her guidance I have been able to sell my work throughout galleries in the UK and Europe, I have won awards and funding for my business ideas and am now planning the opening of my very own gallery this September!
If you’re an emerging or even an established craftsperson, I strongly recommend mentoring sessions. Jenny will help you every step of the way and give you the guidance and support you need to succeed in any direction you wish to take your career.”
